Istanbul Topkapi Palace Photo Gallery

Be ready to be amazed! Topkapi Palace was completed in 1478 and stayed as the administrative and art centre of the empire for almost 400 years. Abandoned during Ottoman rule as the centre moved to Dolmabahce in the mid-19th century, the palace has been preserved and now is open to visitors.

The Harem is the sultan's family residence and was off-limits back in the day.

Cross the courtyard and there are plenty more exhibitions and buildings to see.

No wonder the sultan chose this place to build a palace. Perched on a hill, it commands a full view of the Bosporous below and beyond.

Here is an overview of this morning's achievement.
