The name "Keelung" has a long history. In the past, the city's Chinese name meant "chickens' cage" (ÂûÅ¢), but that was subsequently changed to commemorate a Chinese emperor (°ò¶©). Even though the Chinese names are different, the English pronounciation for both names is the same - Keelung. This city of 400,000 is located north of Taipei and is Taiwan's 2nd largest port.
