Cheonggyecheon Stream Restoration

Introduction

CheongGyeCheon has been restored from a road into a 5.8 km stream flowing in the heart of Seoul. The restoration project undertaken by the Seoul City government took three years and cost over 370 billion won ($355 million). It reopened on Oct. 1, 2005, 44 years after it was covered by concrete amid urban development.
