Alishan Photo Gallery - Part 1

Alishan is a very magical place, where you can admire thousand year-old trees and detox with some fresh mountain air. Many come for sunrise, but I couldn't wake up so early for it. There must be some good nature to enjoy during the day, right?Having arrived at lunch for my day trip, I made the most of my 3 hours in the park with 2 major walks. You can make use of the railway to help save some time, but I decided to get a good workout and walk the entire way. From the park entrance, take the train or walk on a well-maintained trail towards Zhaoping station. This section is mostly shaded with a wood sidewalk that is separated from traffic.
With limited time, I had no interest in shopping around the tourist information centre.
A short walk from the park entrance and just beyond the train station is a good place to get a quick lunch. This is the highest 7-11 in Taiwan.
I made this trip in early February and it was quite chilly at these altitudes. The flowers were starting to bloom but it's still quite some time away from cherry blossom season.
You will see a wood staircase come up at an intersection. Go uphill and you will enter a dense forest.
Soon, you will spot the train line again and emerge in the large Zhaoping Park that fronts Zhaoping station. There are some raised platforms to enjoy the mountain views.
Trains from Alishan station only operate up to Zhaoping station during the day but special sunrise frequencies proceed further up to Zhushan.
