This temple is a bit out of the way but is still included in the Angkor pass. After a 45-minute car trip early in the morning, we arrived at this quiet and serene temple slightly ahead of the tour groups. It's not very big, but the carvings are very exquisite. The central section has been cordoned off from visitors, but the enclosure is not too big so it is still possible to appreciate the architectural details from afar.Banteay Srey was consecrated in 967 at the foot of the Kulen Mountains. Is name means "citadel of the women/beauty", referring to its size and decor. This wasn't a royal temple though, and was only re-discovered in 1914.
