Ta Prohm's tree in a temple is one of the most photographed parts of the ancient Angkor capital. Built as a Buddhist monastery, it owned over 3000 villages at its peak and was presided by 18 high priests.Restoration has been minimal to try to preserve the temple in its existing condition as much as possible, which is why we see so much vegetationn so close ot it.
