Barcelona Photo Gallery - Barri Gotic

Barri Gotic is Barcelona's old town, with many buildings from the 14th and 15th centuries set amidst narrow streets. Palau del Lioctinent was originally built in the 1550s as the Spanish viceroy's residence.

La Seu's dark interiors enhance the Gothic cathedral's mystique and grandeur. The building dates from the late 13th century, although a more extravagant facade was added in the late 19th century. Luckily, it was spared during the civil war so the interior Gothic features are still intact.

Museu d'Historia de la Ciutat has a huge archaeological dig of the old Roman city. Emperor Augustus founded the settlement in 10 BC and todayh's museum was once part of Palau Reial Major.
