Modern Beijing Photo Gallery

Beijing doesn't boast a stock market, but the regulators are here, so banks also show their presence as well. Financial Street is located west of the Forbidden City and consists of many new skyscrapers filled with financial institutions.

The 2nd ring road seems to be always congested. Beijing has sprawled out to a few more ring roads beyond.

A bit further away at Beijing North station, an interesting set of triplets in green stand out against the modestly simple building.

Combating the traffic nightmare, planners have built many subway lines in the past few years, and initially charged only 2 yuan for any ride no matter how far to encourage transit use. Fares have since been reformed to correlate with distance, and new lines continue to be built.

Subway Line

Although many new subway lines have opened, there are still many buses on the road braving traffic.
