Beijing Photo Gallery - Wangfujing

Wangfujing is the city's main shopping street. Once the place where princes pawned their goods, it has since been redeveloped into modern malls and plazas with wide pedestrian walkways.

The night market runs just off the main shopping street and has been cleaned up in recent years. Once a place to savour exotic foods such as scorpions, it now offers a more normal menu with beef skewers, fruits, dim sum, and desserts.

Not many interested customers for these protein-rich foods.

This building seems a bit out of place so close to the Forbidden City. St. Joseph's Church was originally built in 1655 but was destroyed and rebuilt over time due to earthquake, fire, and civil unrest.
