Birmingham Photo Gallery - Residential Boom

UK Flag

Birmingham has been building tall in recent years, with a strong residential sector especially in the city centre. There is a fairly large student population with a number of universities, which has attracted international investor attention for rental returns.

The Octagon is a 49-storey rental apartment tower with 370 units just a short walk from Victoria Square. Rising 155m, it is currently the city's tallest building.

The Beorma Quarter is just across the street from the Selfridges with a 29-storey mixed use building featuring offices on the lower section and residential units from the 12th floor upwards.

Enclave is a rental tower with 1-3 bedroom units on Lower Essex Street.

Out further east in Digbeth, there is a lot of regeneration under way with a spruced up sidewalks and streetside vegetation amidst the empty storefronts. The Stone Yard will feature about 1000 homes and is just across the street from the Custard Factory along the High Street.

They've got some good public spaces built, but now they need residents nearby to use them.
