Bristol Photo Gallery - Bristol Cathedral

Bristol Cathedral's history dates back to the 12th century and is a prime example of a hall church, where the nave, chapels, and choir are all the same height.

Research revealed out of about 1000 people who are buried or have a memorial here between 1670 and 1900, some 20% had a connection to the transatlantic slave trade. The cathedral is pondering how to deal with this history, such as hosting a permanent exhibition about its links to the slave trade or removing monuments of those connected to it.
