12km of ramparts enclose the historic city centre, and it is open to the public to get a different perspective on the city, and to see a beautiful sunset. The Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas was one of 3 forts that protected the bridge into the inner city. Being the largest Spanish fort built in the Americas, visitors can climb up to the top for a wonderful view of the historic city centre and the skyline rising behind it.
