I pre-booked my ticket the day before to go up the church's observation deck right when it opens at 9am. While the church is free to visit, there is an admission charge to go up the tower although it's included in the Copenhagen Card. After climbing up a narrow staircase shared by both directions of traffic, I found a beautiful panoramic view of the city.Coming up first thing in the morning was the smart choice as the crowds built up quickly after and the deck is actually quite small. There is also a staircase that ascends along the spiral which is also narrow so it doesn't take a lot of people for everyone to come to a standstill. The Baroque church took 14 years to build and was consecrated in 1696, with the serpentine spire inaugurated in 1752. The external staircase twists 4 times to the top with 150 steps, which houses a gilded globe and figure of Christ.
