Dalian's trams date from the Japanese colonial era and continue to run across the city centre today from west to east. In addition to these historic relics, newer vehicles have also been brought to service.

Passengers can pay cash or by smart card when they board. The fare is 1 yuan, but will cost an additional 1 yuan past the railway station.

Historic photographs are hung along both sides of the historic tram's compartment.

Not all stops have dedicated platforms. Many are right on the street, and passengers have no place to safely wait along the tracks.

Seats on the new vehicles have this type of tarp strewn over them, presumably to slow down their wear and tear.

The eastern section of the tram line towards Haizhiyun Park are not served by the regular line. Passengers need to switch trams for the final few stops.

The Haizhiyun Park terminus sits along a gentle slope. Much of the surrounding areas are under construction.

Dalian's metro opened in 2015 with the first phase consisting of 2 lines. The current coverage includes the airport, key city squares, and the high-speed train station, although frequencies are quite with off-peak waits of up to 10 minutes.
