The Pearl is a man-made island reclaimed from the sea with residential buildings, fancy hotels, waterfront promenade, and marina. It is split into several neighbourhoods that are within walking distance of each other - Porto Arabia, Qanat Quartier, and Gewan Island. This page focuses on Porto Arabia, which wraps around the marina in a circle.

To attract international investors, Qatar allowed freehold status for foreigners in 2004, allowing them full ownership rights.

It's a great place for a walk when I visited in the spring. March temperatures were still reasonable to be outside although I wouldn't expect anyone along the promenade during the summer even with the street furniture in place now. To get to this area, the nearest metro station is Legtaifiya metro station. Hop onto a connecting bus to cross the causeway from the mainland.
