Dublin Photo Gallery - Chester Beatty

Next door to Dublin Castle, Chester Beatty is a museum that showcases manuscripts, books, and other treasures from around the world, offering a glimpse into many cultures. The collection previously belonged to Sir Alfred Chester Beatty, an American philanthropist who played an important role in mining copper deposits in Africa.

Chester Beatty studied mining and began his career as a labourer and climbed up the ranks to engineer. After his first wife died in 1911, he moved to London, and then to Ireland in 1950.
