Dublin Photo Gallery - Docklands

The Docklands area used to be a run-down industrial zone set amidst a declining port. Regeneration was already in the air back in the late 1980s when the government set up the Custom House Docks Development Authority in 1987 to lure financial services companies here. In 1997, the Dublin Docklands Development Authority was formed and a regeneration program covering over 520 hectares followed. Today, the area is a new office and residential district that is connected to the tram network, taking just 10 minutes to reach the centre.

A nice waterfront promenade runs along the River Liffey's northern banks, commanding a view of the financial institutions on the other side.
