Dusseldorf has a large Japanese community of 15,000 and a large business presence with over 600 Japanese companies operating in the region. After World War II, there was huge demand for machinery and heavy industrial products in Japan to rebuild the country. The Dusseldorf area was a good place to source these, and Japanese companies started coming here in the 1950s. Little Tokyo is just a short walk from the main railway station and comprises several blocks around the Immermannstrasse. The food here is authentic with many types of restaurants from ramen to sashimi.
I noted 2 large Japanese supermarkets with a very good selection of products. There are also other Asian-themed supermarkets nearby.
