Dancing Water Drops Exhibition (June)

The government installed a number of water drops at its headquarters to celebrate the 60th anniversary of importing fresh water from Dongjiang (East River) in neighbouring Guangdong province. These installations by Simon Ma symbolize inclusion and vitality, and have previously been put on display in Venice, Rome, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Dubai.
However, as industrialization grew in the Pearl River Delta, concerns have been raised over the years on whether this source was still clean to use, while desalination plants in the city also produced fresh water, albeit at a higher price than importing water from mainland China.
