Major Bus Events in 2023 (2nd Half) - NWFB's Last Regular Service 970X

After 25 years, the New World First Bus brand was absorbed into Citybus on July 1, 2023. Their final regular service was route 970X, scheduled to leave from Cheung Sha Wan around 1:30am that morning. The company noted no more than 4 buses would serve the final departure, and there was a huge crowd waiting in line to board well ahead of that time. As expected, the special retro livery buses were on hand for this special occasion. The China Motor Bus retro livery open-top parked on a neighbouring street. Would it run one of the 970X departures? A former China Motor Bus single decker crashed the party moments before the last departure. This was the predecessor of NWFB. The open-top bus spotted earlier returned with the media leading the way. The final departure ended up being some half hour late with a procession of final 970X departures, marking a close to the NWFB era. More special buses were also spotted in the area for the event.
