At Kowloon's east end is the residential district of Lam Tin, where even the lower and middle classes can get some harbour and skyline views.

Yau Tong is an industrial area by the waterfront that is slowly being redeveloped into a residential area. At this stage, the living environment is not so pleasant if your neighbour is a cement factory spewing a lot of dust onto roads and your sea views may not be permanent as new buildings go up. There are at least 8 projects with over 10,000 units being built.

Beyond the hills is the ultra-dense suburb of Tseung Kwan O with many hiking trails among the greenery.
