The Central Kowloon Route is an underground highway across Kowloon that will cut travel times going east and west between Yau Ma Tei and Kowloon Bay from 30 minutes to only 5. At just shy of 5km long, it is estimated to cost HKD $42 billion and construction is expected to finish in 2025. At the western end in Yau Ma Tei, a landscaped deck that runs 250m across will be built on top of the highway. It will connect with West Kowloon station to form a giant public space.
