Hong Kong Transport Galleries - The New Exhibition Centre Station (May 15, 2022)

The East Rail's extension to Hong Kong Island opened on May 15, with Exhibition Centre being the only new station along the cross-harbour section. The double-deck station was built to cater for an interchange with a proposed Tung Chung Line extension. The trip to Hung Hom takes about 5 minutes.

There is a large history exhibition depicting the various East Rail Line's stations spanning some 100 years, as well as this extension's construction.

During construction in 2018, 3 war-time bombs from World War II were found, of which one's casing is on display inside the station. They were believed to have been lodged into the seabed as this area was under water during the war.

Inspired by its location near the harbour, local artist Leung Chi Wo used some 1200 photos of the harbour to decorate the station's walls that align in the direction of the sea.

There are 2 sets of exits connecting to the Convention Centre and Harbour Centre behind it.
