High-speed trains from China will travel 26km through Hong Kong to terminate at this 11-hectare underground station at the bottom of Kowloon. Operating at a maximum of 200 km/h, it will only take 14 minutes to reach Shenzhen and 48 minutes to Guangzhou when the line opens in 2018. Cost overruns have pushed the controversial project's total price tag to over HKD 84 billion.
