Kowloon City is a popular gourmet district with lots of Thai and Chiu Chow restaurants lining the streets. It has so far resisted the onslaught of corporate chains, with many individual / family-run stores still thriving. Pockets of redevelopment are taking hold, but there are still plenty of run-down buildings that give this area an interesting character.
With many residents living above the shops and restaurants, the wet market is a good place to grocery shop under shelter and with air-conditioning. The top floor has a number of eateries as well.
