Long Valley

The Long Valley wetlands are popular with migratory birds and with agriculture's revival, birds are returning in larger numbers. Some 200 bird species frequent this area, and conservationists have long called for the government to establish a nature park in this part of Sheung Shui near the border. The area caught the public's attention in 2000 when the railway company planned to build the Lok Ma Chau spur line right through here, and subsequent objections forced the line to move underground.
