Hong Kong Photo Gallery - MTR South Island Line

The $16.9 billion South Island Line opened in December 2016 and has shortened the commute into Admiralty to only 11 minutes. Unlike the other urban lines, only 3-car driverless trains run along the 7 km route, with a daily capacity of 170,000 passengers.

The typical MTR development model is to build on top of its stations, making a lot of money in the process. A huge plot above the train depot was tendered for $38 billion in the summer of 2018, which will turn into a 1200-unit development along with a shopping mall.
