Queen Elizabeth II died in Balmoral on 8 September 2022. Despite over 25 years after the handover, there was an outpouring of tributes at the British Consulate-General, with a sea of flowers just outside along with a long queue to head inside to sign the book of condolences.
Locally referred to as the "boss lady", Queen Elizabeth II visited Hong Kong twice during her reign in May 1975 and October 1986. On her first visit, she covered a lot of ground such as City Hall, Oi Man Estate, Hung Hom station, HKU, and the container port. Her second visit was paired with China and she became the first British monarch to visit the mainland.
