Hong Kong Photo Gallery - Tai O Lantern Festival (Day)

With 2500 handcrafted lanterns over the streets and main square, Tai O's Mid-Autumn Festival decor is hard to beat. As a result, hordes of urban dwellers descended into the village over the weekend, turning the narrow streets into a packed sea of people, badly disrupting local residents.

A long line snaked around and out of the Tung Chung bus terminus, although many staff were on hand to indicate where the line ends and they were able to count the numbers to board multiple buses at a time. As a result, I only waited about 20 minutes to board.

I opted to arrive a bit early during the afternoon to capture the lanterns under both daylight and when the lights turn on supposedly at 6:30pm.
