Tin Shui Wai

Located in the northwestern part of the New Territories, Tin Shui Wai has always been famous for the wrong reasons. Poverty rates among its population of 300,000 are high, residents complain of insufficient social services and lack of jobs in the vicinity, and expensive commuting costs. With many public housing estates in the area, this suburb had been branded as an example of failed urban planning.

The suburb is connected to the city by the West Rail and also a light rail system that runs on their own right-of-way lanes.

It is cheaper to head to Shenzhen seen in the background than to head into Kowloon from these remote stretches.
