The Kwun Tong Town Centre redevelopment was first announced back in 1998. The site covers 5.35 hectares and the government aims to redevelop a series of old and dilapidated buildings into a new civic centre, commercial highrise, and residential quarters, affecting about 5000 residents. A new public transport terminus opened on April 2, 2021 underneath the residential development. It would include the city's first fully air-conditioned bus station, which is embedded within the mall itself. The old outdoor facility would then close.
