Lisbon Photo Gallery - Elevadors

The Elevador de Santa Justa is a vertical neo-Gothic elevator that takes visitors up to Bairro Alto. It opened in 1902 and the top has an observation area commanding panoramic city views. Designed by Gustave Eiffel's apprentice, the wrought-iron structure looks a bit like the Paris landmark.

The Glória funicular makes the steep climb from Baixa to Bairro Alto easy for your legs. Opened in 1885 and electrified in 1915, it is one of 3 funiculars scattered around the city, and all 3 are well worth a visit.
