Located south of the city near Hampton Court Palace, Bushy Park was one of Henry VIII's favourite deer parks. When the palace was built in the early 1500s as Cardinal Thomas Wolsey's home, an order was given to enclose farmland around it. There's a lot of food for the deer population to sustain itself as they feast of grass, leaves, acorns, and chestnuts. The mile-long Chestnut Avenue traverses north to south across the park. It was the creation of Sir Christopher Wren as a formal approach to the palace during the time of King William III and Queen Mary II.
