Charles Henry Harrod was a grocer and tea businessman who opened a store in Knightsbridge in 1849. With a mission to make "Anything Possible", the store has evolved to become a famous brand for high-end retailing. I set my eyes on the ground floor food hall to see how luxury retailing puts food on spectacular display.
Noticing a big selection of dates, it's a reminder that the Qatar sovereign wealth fund bought the store in 2010 in a deal worth over 1.5 billion pounds.
Be sure to also check out the Egyptian Hall and escalator. Mohamed al-Fayed was born in Egypt in 1929 and owned Harrods from 1985 to 2010, when it was sold to the Qatari sovereign wealth fund.
