Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 Photo Gallery

Located on the other side of the airport, Terminal 4 opened in 1986 with Prince Charles and Princess Diana cutting the ribbon. It once hosted British Airways for over 20 years before they moved to the new Terminal 5 in 2008, and now this terminal hosts a variety of different exotic airlines from SkyTeam to many Middle East and Central Asian airlines. The check-in area is nothing special - a typical warehouse. Air-side, there are many large windows with a good view of the southern runway and plenty of activity across the airport at Terminals 2 and 3. I could even see Terminal 5 in the distance. There is also a small indoor observation deck just upstairs at one end of the terminal where you can see the end of the southern runway. During my visit, planes were starting to take off from that spot and I could see Central London in the distance. There are even explanation boards on the types of aircraft you will spot here. Checking out the departure boards, this terminal gets a very big variety of airlines, so plane spotting gets quite interesting. Besides, the typical Middle Eastern carriers such as Qatar Airways and Saudia, there also less-seen airlines such as RwandAir, Air Astana, Tunisair, and Uzbekistan Airways.
