Regent's Park has a long history of being a royal recreational ground. Henry VIII once hunted in this thickly-wooded area with plenty of deer. Later, the land was leased to farmers until a growing London changed its fortune as building on it became more lucrative. The Prince Regent sought John Nash to design his new summer palace here along with homes for aristocrats. With an enormous cost, the plan was never fully executed.A line of cherry trees within the Inner Circle makes this a good spot for a spring walk. A sprinkle of cherry trees also line the avenue.
