Beneath Waterloo station is London's largest legal graffiti wall along Leake Street's tunnel. Stretching 300m long, its fame started after the Eurostar left Waterloo and street artist legend Banksy used this former vehicle entrance for his Cans Festival in 2008, inviting a number of artists to decorate the walls.Anyone is welcome to come showcase his/her artistic talent and there is even an artist-in-residence hosting workshops. There are also restaurants and bars down there to recharge after a stroll admiring the pieces. Banksy's rise to fame started in the early 1990s when his designs started popping up in Bristol. Some had political messages embedded within and soon, the world noticed. Although he painted in anonymity, the media have tried to find out who the man is behind these famous works. In 2003, the BBC asked if he was called "Robert Banks".
The streets around Brick Lane have been quite famous for its street art for quite some time.
