London Photo Gallery - Tate Modern

Bankside Power Station was originally built in the 1940s and 60s but closed by 1981. In 1994, a revitalization plan came as it was selected to be a new contemporary art museum, with the former turbine hall becoming the new grand entrance.

Tate Modern opened in 2000 and subsequently expanded in 2016. Overlooking St. Paul's and the City's skyscrapers on the other side of the Thames, the 2 buildings offer mostly free exhibitions.
