Marrakesh Photo Gallery - Main Square and Souqs

Djemaa el-Fna, the main city square, is a bustling hive of activity day and night. Public executions were believed to have taken place here in the 11th century, and street performers and caravans from other parts of Africa have also made their mark at this location. The offering is exotic, with snake charmers, acrobats, musicians, and horse carriages all mixed with the restaurants and shops here and on surrounding streets.

The best view is from a restaurant above the crowds. I had a sip at the Cafe Glacier's balcony.

Back on the square and along its surrounding alleys, it is busy and getting through the crowds and cold stares from the shopkeepers can be quite intimidating. It didn't feel safe even durin the daytime. It is very easy to get lost amist the A-Z wares available, and you need to be careful handling around the cargo moving about near you as well.
