Guatape is home to colourful colonial-style homes with the lower parts decorated with various sculptures. Entire streets look like works of art.
The red and white Greco-Roman Parroquia Nuestra Senora del Carmen sits in the centre of town. Its interiors are heavily decorated in wood.
Weekends are a busy time here as Medellin residents come out for a day trip. The small bus station is just by the waterfront a block downhill from the church. Go there early and buy the return ticket in advance. Buses fill up quickly!
