Nagano Photo Gallery - Olympic Museum

Nagano hosted the Winter Olympics in 1998 and a small museum to celebrate its legacy has been set up at the speed-skating venue, M-WAVE. The building is shaped like the mountain ranges around the city, dubbed the "roof of Japan".

Over 2100 athletes from 72 teams participated in 68 events, including newly-introduced curling and snowboarding. The Shinkansen was extended to Nagano, shortening travel time to less than an hour and a half.
