Modern Perth Photo Gallery

Perth is the world's most isolated city, and is interestingly closer to Jakarta than to Sydney. British colonists came to Perth in 1829 and convicts arrived in 1850 to start building out the colony. Gold brought prospectors in the 1890s, bringing together Victorian architecture.

Perth's downtown is not too big and is very walkable with a decent selection of residential buildings that are walkable to the offices.

While not prolific like Melbourne, there are a few graffiti-filled alleys as well.

The state government invested $440 million to renew the area around Elizabeth Quay, which opened in 2016 with parks, pedestrian bridge, boat moorings, and restaurants. Being close to the office towers downtown, it is now a favourite place for workers to enjoy lunch, while new residential developments are coming up all around it.

This is also a good place to see the skyline from a decent distance.
