Singapore Central Business District

The Fullerton Hotel was built in 1928 and was once the home of a post office, exchange, Chamber of Commerce, and social club. It was converted into a 400-room hotel in 2001.

The merlion is a symbol of Singapore, with the head symbolizing the city's original Malay name "lion city". This statue was unveiled in 1972.

Singapore's 3 tallest buildings all reach the same height - 280m.

Marina Bay is a reclaimed extension of the central business district. The harbourfront area has a park and promenade with views of the Sands casino complex and Suntec City further afield.

The Westin Singapore's lobby lounge overlooks the Tanjong Pagar container terminal.

Construction continues and there is plenty of empty land here.

Lau Pa Sat was built in 1894 as a market, with its cast-iron support structure made in Glasgow and shipped to Singapore. It is a favourite lunch location for office workers in neighbouring skyscrapers.

The hawker centre has also extended outdoors, pedestrianizing a stretch of the street.
