Newtown

Newtown is one of the grittier, dense inner city suburbs. The railway came in 1855, and it is now only a short 10-minute ride to Town Hall.

Beautiful rowhouses wrap around Hollis Park, Newtown's first public park.

Newtown Post Office opened in 1893. A clock was subsequently added in 1900.

King Street's retail strip dates back to the 1880s, and the thoroughfare remains congested and bustling today.

The Great Western Railway opened in 1855, connecting points between Sydney and Parramatta. The station was relocated to the current site in 1892.
