Taipei Photo Gallery - Lehua Night Market

Taiwan Flag

Seeking a night market away from the touristy areas where locals form the majority crowd, I was not disappointed with Lehua, which was quite busy even on a weeknight. Located across the river in New Taipei City, it's only a short walk south of Dingxi MRT station to Yongping Road, a fairly wide street so the walking experience is quite good.

This seasame oil specialty store sells that with plain noodles (TWD 40), pig's heart (TWD 140), and more.

This market has a good variety of shops. While the stalls on the street mainly sell food, the shops lining the sides have a mix including fashion and old-world style gaming machines.

This dessert shop offers many combinations of familiar items, a good sweet ending to a night of fried and oily snacks.

This stall is simply named "Delicious" and sells various noodles and duck meat.

This stall sells a Hong Kong specialty, egglets made with a customized waffle iron.

Another typical Hong Kong street food is curry fish balls.

A huge line snaked out of this shop selling "deep-sea" fish sticks at the start of the night market, by far the biggest crowd for any stall that night. 1 stick is only TWD 20, less than USD $1, and you get 1 free when you buy 6.

There are some funky foods on offer here. #46 is chicken crown, #47 is chicken rear-end, #41 is chicken heart, and #45 is chicken intestine.
