Songshan Airport is located just steps from the city centre. Opened in 1950, it has historically been a domestic airport, but now also has regional flights to mainland China, Japan, and South Korea. After a Transasia turboprop crashed shortly after takeoff in 2015, there were renewed calls to close the airport and centralize all flights in Taoyuan by 2020.

Being so close to the city, there is a flight ban between 11pm and 6am.

Songshan Airport has its own MRT station. It only takes 16 minutes to reach City Hall in Xinyi District.
