Toronto Photo Gallery - Aurora

Aurora is a distant suburb north of Toronto. Developed when Yonge Street was opened in 1796, the first residents fled from the United States who were loyal to the English and the Quakers. The railway arrived in 1853, connecting it with Toronto, and Aurora became an industrial town. In 1854, the village was renamed Aurora, after the Greek goddess.

A large arboretum of over 100 acres is located in the town centre with different types of vegetation, walking trails, and fall colours. With a balmy autumn in 2021, the fall colours were only ending in early November.

Hiking trails also line along the river valleys extending out into the residential enclaves.
