Toronto Photo Gallery - Halloween

Originated from an ancient Celtic festival to ward off ghosts, Halloween is a very delightful festival for children as they dress up in scary costumes and roam around their neighbourhoods to trick or treat, knocking on strangers' doors to get candy and UNICEF donations.

Stores would sell small packs of candy in bulk for the occasion. The typical haul would include lots of candy bars and the odd fruit. Every now and then we hear about bad people tainting their treats to give to children, but for the most part this candy-giving tradition has remained relatively the same.

Dollar shops also cash in during this time selling all sorts of decor for your display. Some home-owners go quite the extra mile in turning their homes into haunted houses, so the retail establishment is always ready to fuel that desire.

So how would you decorate your home for Halloween?

Carving pumpkins into scary faces is also a tradition, although the smaller ones are more for decor instead.
