Toronto Midtown Photo Gallery

Midtown is roughly classified as north of Yonge and Bloor stretching a few grids. The Yonge/Englinton area has seen significant highrise development activity in recent years.

The density tapers off quickly west of Yonge with streets of detached houses. These quiet neighbourhoods enjoy easy subway access within walking distance and the benefits of malls and restaurants that line highrise developments along Yonge.

Forest Hill is an upscale residential area of large houses and leafy streets. Expectedly, schools for these upper class residents need to be grander. Upper Canada College was founded by the lieutenant governor of Upper Canada in 1829. With 35 acres of land at its disposal, it has been visited by Prince Philip multiple times and even has an in-house archivist to preserve its rich history.

The Bishop Strachan School opened in 1867 to educate girls into tomorrow's leaders. At the time, this concept was quite radical as women were not treated as equals to men.

South of St. Clair, the houses become more modest and less high class.
