Yoshino Cherry Blossoms Photo Gallery
| |||
Yoshino is one of the best places to see the cherry blossoms in Japan, featuring a sea of pink across a vast hillside. There are some 30,000 cherry trees here, which have inspired classical literature over the centuries. Today, it is a World Heritage Site so be prepared for crowds.While I came during full bloom, the weather was unfortunately grey. Nevertheless, I was determined to check the famous site out and headed to the ropeway next to Yoshino station for the short ride up to begin exploring. I would eventually walk back down after an exhausting day. The hillside paths are well paved with plenty of shops along many parts of it where you can grab both food and drinks. Some cafes even have terraces out back overlooking the mountains and the sea of pink. From Osaka's Namba station, it takes less than 2 hours on Kintetsu's trains to reach Yoshino.
